Mio: Surrounded by the Huron-Manistee National Forests and with the Au Sable River at its front door, Mio is a popular departure point and equipment rental center for fishing and canoeing expeditions. In spring the rare Kirtland Warbler nests in protected areas south of Mio near Mack Lake. Guided tours of the nesting area leave from the U.S. Forest Service station.
