Homosassa Springs on US 19 is home of the famious State Wildlife Park, and is also the source of the Homosassa river, which emits millions of gallons of fresh water an hour at a constant temperature of 72 F. Both freshwater and saltwater fish inhabit the spring and can be observed through a floating glass observatory. There are trails, educational programs, and baots that make suttle runs from the park building on US 19 to the main park wildlife section.
In the old Homosassa area, there is the Yulee Sugar Mill State Historic Site. The sugar mill was built in 1851 by David Levy Yulee, Florida's first U.S. Senator.
